 Key Skill Inventory

I can bring the following key skills to your organization:

CONCEPTUALIZING

Created the vision for Visteon’s Super Integrated cockpit using structured analysis and structured design methods resulting in a convincing demonstration of Visteon’s advanced technology to Wall Street analysts.

Enhanced the typical product validation process through structured selection of the microcontroller, support tools and transferring of typical military testing techniques resulting in a remarkable 96% software code coverage.

ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT

Defined system engineering’s role in development of Ford electrical/electronic systems.  Led efforts to recruit approximately 125 engineers in 6 months resulting in skilled personnel to “seed” Ford’s new system engineering organization.

Identified skills and obtained resources to develop Visteon’s Super Integrated cockpit through a combination of outsourcing and internal development resulting in timely delivery of a display buck and functioning vehicle used to demonstrate technology at reviews and auto shows.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

Contributed technical expertise to the Electronics Division’s strategic planning effort through competitive analysis and projections of competitive technology resulting in effective resource deployment.

Provided effect insight into application of systems engineering by developing and presenting “White Papers” describing alternative organization implementations which eventually formed the basis for Ford’s international systems organization.

MENTORING

Instructed, guided and mentored engineers in automated software validation resulting in exceptionally thorough validation of Ford’s Luxury Segment Demonstration Vehicle’s climate control system.

Developed electronic instrument cluster advanced manufacturing techniques by including features in new product designs and instructing manufacturing personnel in their use resulting in reduced manufacturing cycle times while improving test coverage.

SYSTEMIC THINKING

Developed a system requirement review process by adapting the software review process and applying it to requirement changes resulting in fewer changes along with fewer errors in needed change requirements.

Identified improvements in vehicle electrical/electronic designs by combining reliability analysis with activity based costing which ultimately identified a 25% cost and weight reduction along with a 57% reliability improvement and 45% reduction in parts count.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Developed Ford’s electronic odometer by researching alternative non-volatile memory technologies and creating the memory storage algorithm which overcame a critical memory wear out mechanism resulting in the vehicle odometer design used for over 20 years.

Developed Lincoln’s 1980 Message Center through technology selection, electronic architecture design, circuit design, and validation testing resulting in module designs which were manufactured virtually unchanged for 10 years.
